North Korean Aggressor Propaganda

It is said that "if all you have is a hammer, then you treat everything as if it were a nail." The Stalinist government in North Korea has a "military-first" policy that devotes resources to building a massive military (e.g., more than one million soldiers on active duty, large stock of chemical weapons, and atomic bombs). Perhaps that explains why propaganda from North Korea routinely threatens a merciless shower of destruction on South Korea, and to create a "sea of fire" in the capital city, Seoul.

History:

other collections of links

U.S. Newspapers, listed by state.   Also includes links to television and radio stations.

Explanation

To avoid updating bookmark files in several different webbrowsers on each of several different computers that I routinely use, I have collected all of my links to sources of news (e.g., newspapers, radio, television) and put them in this HTML document at my personal website. My collection includes major news sources in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK, USA, the German-speaking countries, and English-language news from Japan and Israel. For comprehensive lists of all newspapers, see these resources.

A newspaper near the location of some event often has details that are missing from accounts in national or international media.   The links above to news sources outside the USA are useful for Americans to obtain an international perspective on the news. A view from afar can often cut through hyperbole, propaganda, and local prejudice.

During President Obama's recession, many major newspapers reduced the amount of information on their website, so, in mid-2009, I began adding URLs of major television stations in the USA.
