Explanation

To avoid updating bookmark files in several different webbrowsers on each of several different computers that I routinely use, I have collected all of my links to sources of news (e.g., newspapers, radio, television) and put them in this HTML document at my personal website. For comprehensive lists of all newspapers, see these resources.

A newspaper near the location of some event often has details that are missing from accounts in national or international media.   The links above to news sources outside the USA are useful for Americans to obtain an international perspective on the news. A view from afar can often cut through hyperbole, propaganda, and local prejudice.

During President Obama's recession, many major newspapers reduced the amount of information on their website, so, in mid-2009, I began adding URLs of major television stations in the USA.
